This novel began with a whopper of a prologue. Immediately I began asking questions and my first was, “What the fuck?” Props, to Claire Wallis, for reeling me in in less than 60 seconds. The story opened with Emma as she moved into her new apartment. 22-years-old, fresh from college, taking on a new job and city all on her own. ❀Mini Review❀ This book was devastating. I had no idea what the hell was going on in the beginning. For a minute there I thought this book was going to be about witchcraft and wizardry, about a girl who is different, so she got sent to an asylum. Yeah, it seems ridiculous now that I've read it. The story was bits and pieces, past and present, a total disconnect of thoughts and scenes for about the first third of the book.
