In the steamy and suspenseful sequel to Sugar Daddy (“A totally gripping take on romance and revenge!”—Lauren Blakely), a heartbreaking rift threatens to unravel a dangerous alliance . . . and a fragile new love.
After posing as an escort for the Sugar Bowl online dating service, Sela Halstead is looking for one thing: payback. She’s closing in on the site’s heartless founder, Jonathon Townsend, and she needs Beckett North, Townsend’s business partner and her lover, by her side. She’d thought that their intimate nights together had forged an unbreakable bond, but after a shocking betrayal, Sela begins to doubt the brilliant bad boy. When push comes to shove, can she trust Beck to do the right thing?
Now that he understands the truth, Beck will stop at nothing to secure the reckoning Sela deserves. But between his desire for her and his disgust for JT, Beck doesn’t exactly have a lot of control over his emotional state. Left with no other choice, he must summon all his discipline to maintain JT’s trust and pretend that they’re still friends. But how far will Beck go to prove his loyalty to Sela? He nearly lost her once. To keep her, Beck might have to kill for her.
Sugar Rush is very different and unique. It’s kind of dark and gritty, with Revenge almost like a third lead character. Normally I’m kind of hard to please with these kinds of stories too, because they tend to get very extravagant and I find myself thinking “oh, come on! That would never happen!” That’s not the case with these books though.
I’m obsessed with the series and I can’t wait to find out how it ends. In this second installment, we get to see Sela and Beck’s relationship progress. We see some growth on Sela’s part; there was a piece of her that was almost demented in the first book. She’s more rational and realistic as time goes on, though the story is still pretty outlandish.
Sawyer has done a fantastic job with this series, writing it in such a way that you can’t help but devour it. And, as with all her books, it’s sexy as hell.
The end of this book was nothing short of shocking. A lot of secrets and mysteries are unveiled that had my jaw on the floor. The ending was heart-stopping and I’m dying to know what happens in the final piece of this incredible story.
I highly recommend this series, and I encourage you not to wait to start it. I’m usually anti-cliffhanger but these are almost necessary. They really help drive the story and the wait makes finally getting to read them so exciting.
