When a psychic tells Natalie Nixon her life is about to be upended by a mysterious stranger, she laughs it off. After all, she has everything she’s ever wanted—a successful bakery, a the perfect boyfriend, and the keys to her dream house.
Who could possibly make her want to throw all that away?
Then Miles Haas comes back to town.
But he’s no stranger—they’ve known each other since high school. Plus, he’s only around for the summer, he’s still a shameless playboy, and he makes a living writing articles for a men’s magazine with titles like 'Should You Bang the Boss’s Daughter? A Flowchart' and 'Butt Stuff for Beginners: A Field Guide.'
He’s not the man of her dreams, and she’s not about to abandon everything she’s worked so hard for just for a little fun. Except he makes her laugh like no one else, smells like heaven, and looks sexy as hell in those panty-melting glasses.
**SOME SORT OF CRAZY is a full-length standalone romance.**
My friend, Melissa, has been trying to get me to read Melanie Harlow for months now. Whenever I needed a light, sexy read, she was always the first to recommend Frenched, and she never failed to roll her eyes when my spastic brain settled on another book. When Harlow released her Happy Crazy Love series, Melissa went on and on about how great it is, and she finally just gifted me Some Sort of Crazy, I think in a fit of frustration (aren’t pushy book buddies the best?). I’m sure that she smiled and did a fist pump when she saw on Goodreads that I began reading it. (Book buddies are crazy stalkers, yo.) Well, Melissa you can calm yourself because I finally read a Melanie Harlow book and I loved it!
Some Sort of Crazy is the best kind of crazy. It’s love, it’s sex, it’s humor, and it’s distraction. Miles and Natalie are long-time friends who are both at pivotal points in their lives; each at a place where they question what they always thought they wanted with what they actually want and what they need. Natalie is a planner, a person who rigidly sticks to her plans, and Miles is the only one who’s ever been able to make her question her choices and cause her to entertain the possibility of a different future. When Natalie’s life is thrown off kilter, the two clash in a crazy mess of sexy, delicious fun.
Miles and Natalie took over my life the past day and I completely enjoyed it. This is a contemporary romance that is in line with what romance readers would expect, it’ll make you blush, it’ll make you swoon, it’ll make you gush. What makes it stand out is Harlow’s clever writing; I loved the pace and plot — I was never bored and only put the book down to go to sleep. Also, the chemistry between Miles and Natalie is white-hot, and I enjoyed all of their scenes together. They bring the heat, and though the angst level is mild, it was enough to keep me turning the page. I loved the surrounding characters as well, and I’m very curious about Natalie’s sisters. I already one-clicked Some Sort of Love and moved it way up my TBR list.
Yep, I really enjoyed this book, and I’m excited to read more of Melanie Harlow’s work (I think I have Frenched somewhere on my Kindle…), so the moral of this story is: listen to your book buddies.
