Review: Sledgehammer by P. Dangelico

February 13, 2019

Review: Sledgehammer by P. Dangelico

I think I may have found a new favorite author. Holy smokes, y’all. I’m in love with the first two books in this series! I can’t get enough of them. The second I’m done typing up this quick little review, I’m diving into the third book, I just can’t help myself. Why are more people not talking about this author or these books? How have I never heard of them before? Are they earth shattering or life changing? No. But they are once hundred percent what great romance is all about. They’re so well rounded. They’re funny, sweet, … [Read more...]

Review: Wrecking Ball by P. Dangelico

Review: Wrecking Ball by P. Dangelico

I decided to read Wrecking Ball on a whim because I saw my co-blogger and book bestie Melissa gushing about it and I’m so glad that I did. I’d never heard of this author before, or ever even seen this book mentioned in my little corner of the book world. Why? Who knows, because it was so good! Everyone should read it. I didn’t have high expectations for a book I’d never heard of by an author I’d never heard of, because we’re all a little skeptical right? But every author is new to you at some point, and some of them are great. There … [Read more...]

Review: The Gravity of Us by Brittainy C. Cherry

Review: The Gravity of Us by Brittainy C. Cherry

For some reason, I have this pre-conceived notion that I should be afraid of Brittainy C. Cherry’s books. I have no idea where it came from, but it’s there and I’m a big baby. I have to give myself a mental pep talk to read books that I think are going to hurt, so by default I tend to just avoid them. Which is so not the way to go, because they’re almost always the most beautiful. To be honest, the only reason I read it now is because I couldn’t decide what to read, so I handed over my TBR list to my husband and told him to pick. … [Read more...]

Review: Fool Me Once by Nicole Williams

Review: Fool Me Once by Nicole Williams

Fool Me Once is a sweet second chance romance. Emma and Chase were high school sweethearts until he up and left, leaving her with a broken heart, choosing fame and fortune over love. So when he returns unexpectedly, for the first time, to their 10-year high school reunion, things get interesting. I love a good second chance romance. There’s a lot of emotions already involved from the past that can add to the intensity in the present. Plus, I just love that two people spend time apart, only to realize that nobody else measures up, and … [Read more...]

Review: Only Love by Melanie Harlow

Review: Only Love by Melanie Harlow

Only Love showcases the many, many reasons why Melanie Harlow is one of my favorite romance authors. I fell hard for this book! It felt SO GOOD to get back into a solo Harlow romance. It was very refreshing and unmistakably Harlow. The pacing was excellent. A touch on the fast side (maybe?) but I think I plowed through it so quickly because the writing felt very confident and seemed to be executed without any hesitation. As a fan of this series I figured Stella would be more buttoned up and rigid but she was softer and lighter which I … [Read more...]

Review: From Lukov with Love by Mariana Zapata

Review: From Lukov with Love by Mariana Zapata

Oh, my heart. This is easily one of my favorite books of 2018. I’m a fairly new Mariana Zapata reader, having only previously read 2 of her books, both of which I loved. Now I’m convinced I should read every book she’s ever written. This now makes 3 of the most delicious, slow burn books I’ve ever read. If you ask me if I’m a fan of a slow burn, I’m inclined to say no because often times they can be frustrating for me. But if it’s done really well, the way few authors do for me, then it’s just… incredible. I savor it and I love every … [Read more...]

Review: Royally Yours by Emma Chase

November 1, 2018

Review: Royally Yours by Emma Chase

Emma Chase never ceases to charm me with her storytelling. Her writing is great, her characters enjoyable and her stories feel crisp and fresh even when they’re tropey. I’m a sucker for them and Royally Yours is one I’m happy to be charmed by. This little unexpected, sort-of-prequel sneaks up on you and steals your heart. It was sweet, heartbreaking, romantic, emotive and funny. I also loved the complementary friendship, I thought it brought great balance to the story. I’d definitely recommend Royally Yours to all of Emma’s fans and all … [Read more...]

Review: Long Live the Beautiful Hearts by Emma Scott

October 18, 2018

Review: Long Live the Beautiful Hearts by Emma Scott

Emma Scott is my go-to author for romance novels that are thoughtful, intelligent, insightful and emotional. She writes exceptional characters and they quietly steal my heart time and again. As I finish this beautiful duet I find myself shaken emotionally yet renewed and filled with hope. Long Live the Beautiful Hearts was everything I hoped that it would be. Emma’s writing gets me every time and I find her prose to be very addictive. It isn’t pushy or very extravagant but I’ve read so many Scott books that her words have come to be somewhat … [Read more...]

Review: Professor Feelgood by Leisa Rayven

Review: Professor Feelgood by Leisa Rayven

Forewarning: I’m going to have a hard time articulating my thoughts on this book. This review will probably contain lots of rambling, but my headspace right now is kind of a mess. It took me nearly 3 weeks to read this book, and I think that had very little to do with the actual book. I have said this in more reviews than I’m proud to admit, but I have a feeling that if I’d read this book in a matter of days rather than weeks, therefore keeping me at least mildly immersed in the story, I think it’s possible I may have enjoyed it more. It’s … [Read more...]

Review: Block Shot by Kennedy Ryan

Review: Block Shot by Kennedy Ryan

Block Shot started off really strong. Jared and Banner’s friendship in college and the events that unfolded that led to their time apart was wonderful and heartbreaking. But once I reached about 40-50% of the book, it started to fall apart a little bit. Let me be clear, the story was good. Solid. Enjoyable, even. I just felt like some of the spark and intensity really started to fade and it wasn’t holding my attention. I think this could be due to a couple of things, possibly unrelated to the book. I want to give it a fair shot and be fully … [Read more...]
