Fool Me Once is a sweet second chance romance. Emma and Chase were high school sweethearts until he up and left, leaving her with a broken heart, choosing fame and fortune over love. So when he returns unexpectedly, for the first time, to their 10-year high school reunion, things get interesting. I love a good second chance romance. There’s a lot of emotions already involved from the past that can add to the intensity in the present. Plus, I just love that two people spend time apart, only to realize that nobody else measures up, and … [Read more...]
Review: Almost Impossible by Nicole Williams
Almost Impossible is a sweet young adult story about first love, learning who you are, and discovering what life has to offer. And like every other Nicole Williams book I’ve read, I loved every bit of it. Jade is a teenage girl who has lived out most teenagers’ fantasies her whole life – traveling the world. She’s never stayed in one place for too long, so she decides to do just that the summer before her senior year. She moves in with her aunt and uncle to experience life as a “normal” teenager. I really liked Jade’s character. She’s … [Read more...]
Review: Trusting You and Other Lies by Nicole Williams
I requested to review Trusting You and Other Lies for one reason and one reason only: Nicole Williams wrote it. I didn’t read the synopsis, I didn’t pay attention to the genre, I didn’t even notice much about the cover beyond seeing her name on it. Then my request was granted and I had a minor freak out. I noticed the characters on the cover looked kind of young, so with a small sense of dread I read the synopsis. And then I realized I might have made a mistake, because as I suspected, this book is Young Adult. Let me be clear, there is … [Read more...]
Review: Roommates with Benefits by Nicole Williams
Here I am again, reading a book only because Nicole Williams wrote it. Last time it paid off huge. This time? Not so much. Roommates with Benefits started off pretty strong. I felt that Hayden’s back story seemed a tad dramatic but I was going to go with it. Soren was likeable from the beginning. He was a hottie baseball player living in NYC with a smart ass mouth. The first time he met Hayden was fraught with tension and sparks and I couldn’t wait to get more of their dynamic. And I wasn’t let down. Until I was. There was an unnecessary … [Read more...]
Review: Tortured by Nicole Williams
Tortured is an excellent name for this book, because it describes precisely how I felt the entire time I was reading it. And I know that sounds like something I would say about an awful book, but that’s not at all the case. This book was so well-written that it was painful, because I felt everything. It was too real. Way too real. It made me feel way more than I was comfortable feeling, especially since reading is my escape and my happy place. This book was so good and honest about what it was that I didn’t enjoy enjoying it. Does that … [Read more...]
Review: Mister Wrong by Nicole Williams
I have come to love me some Nicole Williams. She has written some really fantastic books and I couldn’t wait to read another one. Mister Wrong was an enjoyable read but it didn’t deliver quite the way I wanted it to. In a lot of ways, it was excellent. The writing was great, the dialogue and chemistry were great, but there’s one place, one major place for me, where it lost me – believability. I know that it’s fiction. I know that. But we’re not talking science fiction or fantasy where I can easily suspend reality for the sake of … [Read more...]
Review: Hate Story by Nicole Williams
Hate Story is an adorable, captivating, romance that I didn’t want to end. Nicole Williams did a fantastic job with this book and these characters, even taking old clichés and breathing new life into them to make them fresh and fun. Reading this book was like watching a really great romantic comedy for the first time. You know the kind I’m talking about. I’ll use You’ve Got Mail for example because I’ve watched it no less than 5 times this holiday break. It gives you that warm, gooey feeling in your chest, it makes you laugh, it makes your … [Read more...]
Review: Touching Down by Nicole Williams
Earlier this year I read and loved Collared by Nicole Williams. I was blown away by the clever story and her skillful writing and I immediately put her on my radar. I don’t usually ever do this, but I went into Touching Down nearly blind. I knew it was a sports romance – hello, the cover – but other than that I just kind of let my previous experiences lead me to reviewing an early copy. It started off really strong; the opening scenes held a lot of mystery and did an excellent job at establishing characters and relationships. I was … [Read more...]
Review: Collared by Nicole Williams
“You always had a way of taking the ground right out from beneath me.” I’m an admitted chicken. I don’t typically do the “dark” reads. I just mentally can’t. I absorb them too much, experience them too deeply. I usually feel myself slip into a sort of depression and it’s just mentally exhausting. So I tend to stick with the lighter stuff. When my friend raved about this book and roughly explained to me the premise, I just had to read it and find out what happens. I’m so glad that I did. “I’ll never finish falling in love with you.” This book … [Read more...]
