A perfect piece of art.
Maybe Someday is an unforgettable and extraordinary experience. I read this book with the music, and all I can say is it was sooo cool! Before you read this book, buy the album! I know it’s extra money, but you will not regret your purchase.
I’ll begin this review by stating that I wasn’t a die-hard Colleen Hoover fan before reading this book. I liked the Hopeless series well enough, but I wasn’t a fan of the Slammed series. I can now say, definitively, that I LOVE Colleen Hoover! This book is the air, sun, and the moon to me! I’m not one prone to hyperbole, exaggeration, or drama, but I’m pretty sure that this book just moved to the top of my list and is now my all time favorite.
Seriously, though, the concept for this book was ingenious. A soundtrack for a novel? Why didn’t I think of that? I’m so jealous of Colleen Hoover’s talent, it’s ridiculous. I wish that I could create art like this!
For me, this experience started with the music. I purchased the album, and listened to it a few times before I began the book. Alone, the music was pretty good, but when paired with the novel (when listened to at the exact moment that the lyrics are presented in the novel), this album was over-the-top amazing! The characters’ feelings enhanced every lyric. The betrayal, joy, fear, lust, shame, heartache and love were felt in every beat and note of each song. I don’t want to give anything about this book away, because I think that the less you know about this book, the better. I’ll tell you that the writing was superb. The plot was genius, filled with the perfect mix of angst and humor. The characters jumped off the page, and I felt like these people were real, since I was so invested in them. Every character’s every word and every thought was felt on a visceral level. This book consumed me. I usually describe a good book experience by stating that I ‘devoured’ or ‘inhaled’ a story, but this time it was the story that swallowed me whole. My emotions fluctuated so much during this one, that I was worried about my mental health! It’s the cheesiest of cheesiest clichés, but I did laugh one minute, and then cry the next. My heart was beating rapidly the whole time, and I wasn’t able to take a normal breath until I read the last word. But, boy was I mad when it was over! I want more!
I wish I had the clout and influence to reach thousands and millions of people so that I could persuade them to read this book and feel what felt! I’m sure that this book will receive a multitude of positive reviews, mine included. What I want say to the person who’s reluctant to click ‘buy’ is to do so right away! This one really deserves all the accolades. There are a lot of musical new adult books out there, but this one is the BEST. Buy it. You’ll absolutely love it!
