Fiercely fantastic, outrageously original, and deviously delectable – this sequel to one of last year’s most original reads was over-the-top good! So much happened in this book. So, so much happened in this book! Overall, I fucking LOVED this book. It was so fun and entertaining, and such an outstanding continuation to the first book. I thought The Collectors’ Society was thrillingly unique, and my mind was blown by Heathor Lyons’ creativity and genius, but The Hidden Library was on another level. I didn’t think that was possible! This story … [Read more...]
Review: Anna and the French Kiss
I’m still basking in the afterglow of this book. I feel like I’m floating! I feel warm, I feel HOT; I feel gooey, and liquid all at the same time. I sound like an idiot, but I just feel good. I ADORED this book. I can’t believe I’m gushing so much about a YA romance, but I can’t even believe that I feel this much about it! Anna and the French Kiss is a book I read to fulfill a category on my Reading Challenge – a book set somewhere I’ve always wanted to visit. Well, after reading this book, I want to visit Paris even more, even though I felt … [Read more...]
Review: Falling Away
I write this review with sadness and joy because this is the end of one of my favorite series. The Falling Series has brought me pleasure and agony, hope and despair, and I’ve always thought it one of the most beautifully written NA series out there, with amazingly developed characters. Falling Away continues the trend of Jasinda Wilder’s great story telling, and ends this series on an achingly beautiful note. Falling Away begins with Ben Dorsey, on the road, without direction, and running away from a broken heart. I ached for him as he … [Read more...]
Review: The Pact by Karina Halle
A seriously sexy, impeccably sweet, sneakily poignant book about love, friendship, growth, sex, and dreams. Karina Halle wrote this book on a whim. It was unplanned, natural, and completely instinctual. This was supposed to be a quick, sexy, uncomplicated read – an entertaining rom-com that you don’t look too deeply at. That might have been her intention, but to me this book was more. Karina’s smart, and so is this book. I understood these characters, and I loved these characters. I got my quick, sexy read, but I also got a smart, and … [Read more...]
Review: The Law of Moses
A divinely beautiful, sublimely moving, and awe-inspiring story of love, truth, faith, and life. Seraph: a celestial or heavenly being belonging to the highest rank of the angelic hierarchy. They represent light, ardor and purity. Amy Harmon is a seraph. The Law of Moses is the fire with which she burned my heart, and mind, her words provided an illuminating light. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: she’s extraordinary. The Law of Moses is her 7th novel, which is wholly appropriate, because like the number symbolizes perfection and … [Read more...]
Series Review: The Girl of Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson
A wonderfully rich, engaging, brilliantly plotted, and thrilling story. The Girl of Fire and Thorns series took me on an adventure filled with twists, turns, thrills, terrors, and tantalizing triumphs. These series caught me by surprise because it's not my usual style. I mainly read adult romance, be it contemporary or historical, and I've never been into YA or teen novels. Well, shame on me for being close-minded, because this series was spectacular! This young adult story was so deeply engrossing and wickedly juicy, and I know that I'll be … [Read more...]
Review: Pull – A letter to Claire Wallis
Okay, so I might've lost my mind this morning. I woke up still thinking about Pull, and I tried to write a review, but it just wasn't happening, so I decided to write a letter instead. To the author. Of Pull. Eeeeek!! I hope she doesn't think I'm some maniac, but I really needed to express how I felt. I decided that it would also be my review, since it's the truest way I could express how I felt about this book. DO NOT READ IT IF YOU HAVEN'T READ PUSH. The letter is spoiler-free, but this book began immediately where Push left off, so I don't … [Read more...]
Review: The Collectors’ Society
An amazingly creative, original, fantastic story about one of the world's most beloved characters. Heather Lyons spins gold with The Collectors' Society, entwining the old with the new, and concocting something uniquely dazzling. What a treasure! This has to be the most creative story I've read all year. Intrigue, adventure, fantasy, romance, thrills, and heartbreak! This book is a genre-bender in that it refuses to be boxed in one category. Similar to Outlander, this tale is a mélange of fantasy, mystery, history, sci-fi, fairytale, and yes, … [Read more...]
Review: Beta
Beta is bold, brilliant, bruising, and breathtaking. More than just a sequel, Beta is an edgy, original read that shatters expectations, pushes boundaries, and simply blows your mind. I was not expecting this book. When I learned that Jasinda Wilder was releasing a sequel to Alpha, I just thought that it would be Alpha 2.0, another erotic romance with fairy tale elements. Well, it's as if Jasinda read my mind, said "Fuck you, and your expectations!" -- then proceeded to slay all my preconceived notions about what this story is about and who … [Read more...]
Review: Burying Water
In this quietly suspenseful novel, K.A. Tucker expertly weaves a tale of secrets, and truths. Burying Water is delicately layered with intrigue and mystery, and it holds completely and totally, from beginning to end. In what has to be my favorite K. A. Tucker novel since One Tiny Lie, she creates a story of second chances and love - true love. I'm struggling with writing this review; I've started, deleted, and restarted it a few times, because I just wasn't able to get down on paper what I felt while reading this story, and how I felt after. … [Read more...]
