Logan and Tate will forever be one of my favorite couples ever. I am both devastated and elated that their story is over. I’m so sad that this is the end, but so happy for them and their happily ever after. When I picked up the first book in this series, Try, I never imaged that I’d fall so in love with these two stubborn men. What I thought would be a fun, erotic read that would be nothing more than some quick entertainment, turned into one of my most favorite series of all-time. True is not a perfect book. It’s not a super exciting … [Read more...]
Review: Bad Judgment by Sidney Bell
Bad Judgment was another recommendation from my book wench, and this was honestly the first time I doubted her. I have never tried to give up on a book so early. I’m ashamed to admit that I almost bailed on this one after only reading one chapter. But lucky for me, she shamed me into giving it more time and I am so glad she did. Let me start off by saying that I wasn’t a big fan of the whole Embry’s revenge storyline. I felt like it was a tad dramatic and unrealistic and it just didn’t really interest me. It was hard to relate to so I wasn’t … [Read more...]
Review: Nowhere but Here by Katie McGarry
I liked this YA Motorcycle Club romance. I liked it a lot. I mean, just the fact that it is a YA Motorcycle Club romance added to its allure, but upon reading it, I loved that it was more than just a cliche MC read. Or maybe, it's exactly the cliche. Let me expand. Nowhere but Here is really a book about family and it touches upon themes like grief, belonging, love, loyalty, the consequences of secrets, and more. It follows Emily, a very sheltered (and judgmental!) seventeen year old; and Oz, a sweet "bad boy" who was raised amongst bikers … [Read more...]
Review: Tales from Cushman Row by Suanne Laqueur
When I finished A Charm of Finches (which you all need to read, PS) it was unimaginable to me how someone could give such life to a story full of some of the most heartbreaking...stuff. I'm leaving it vague so as not to spoil, but that book is heaaaaavy, but also very hopeful and wonderful. I asked my self again and again "how did she do it?" Tales from Cushman Row is how, that's what I'm going with. "So this is a book about sex, is what you're saying?" Yep. I am saying that. However, as gratuitous as that might sound, it never felt that … [Read more...]
Review: How to Blow it with a Billionaire by Alexis Hall
I have no idea how I’m supposed to feel about How to Blow it with a Billionaire, or even the series. Alexis Hall is a fantastic writer and so painfully smart. I worry that he’s so smart that he’s kind of making fun of me with these books to my face, but I’m not smart enough to get it. I feel a little like he’s using clichés and over-used tropes on purpose to sort of make fun of readers who might have enjoyed books involving shades of a certain color. So maybe I’m playing right into his hands, but you know what? I kind of love these books … [Read more...]
Review: Slammed by Victoria Denault
Slammed was exactly what I needed right now. It was a funny, sexy, sweet hockey romance and I finished it in a matter of two days, which apparently this year is quite a feat for me. While I’m a big hockey fan (Go Stars!), as I’ve mentioned in reviews of Denault’s books before, by no means do you have to be a fan of hockey, or even understand it, to enjoy these books. It’s an aspect of the story that makes it fun for a hockey fan to read, but not such a large focus of the book that you would be lost. When it comes down to it, it’s really all … [Read more...]
Review: Burn for You by J.T. Geissinger
2017 has not been my year when it comes to books. Life has really gotten in the way and I just haven’t been able to read with quite the same voracity with which I’ve read in the last several years. I normally read upwards of 100 books in a year’s time. I’m on track to read 52 this year. I’ve tried all kinds of things to jump start my mojo again, to no avail. Until now. My last read was greatly influenced by a book friend and I loved it! I completely ate it up. So without her consent, I took the liberty of assigning her as my official … [Read more...]
Review: The Wall of Winnipeg and Me by Mariana Zapata
I read this book on a whim after seeing a couple of book friends swooning over it on Goodreads. I didn’t even bother to read the synopsis. I impulsively twitched my One-Click finger and dove in. And I’m so glad I did. The Wall of Winnipeg and Me started off slow but before I knew it, I couldn’t put it down. I was skeptical of Aiden in the beginning, he was stand-offish and borderline rude. There wasn’t a whole lot there to like in the beginning. But he slowly won me over. There is slow burn, and then there is this book. Talk about a … [Read more...]
Review: A Charm of Finches by Suanne Laqueur
I have nothing eloquent or witty or thoughtful to say. There are so many words swirling around in my head, none of them making sense, even days after finishing A Charm of Finches. This book has completely overwhelmed me. It is rich. It is heavy. It is brilliant. Suanne Laqueur is a master storyteller. Her intelligence bleeds from the pages. Her characters a gift. Real fucking characters, full of life and nearly tangible. If I were to sketch them they would be gloriously blue and tall and imposing however not in a merciless way. Their … [Read more...]
Review: Most of All You by Mia Sheridan
Most of All You is a book ninja. It’ll get you when you least expect it. Prejudice is a powerful thing, and mine ran rampant with this book. I was absolutely prejudice when I learned that the main character was a stripper. Her hardened personality kind of rubbed me the wrong way and I was pretty convinced there was no way that I could end up loving her. Wrong. I love Eloise, and Gabriel, and this book so much. Both Eloise and Gabriel have tragic pasts that have shaped the people that they’ve become in their adulthood. While Gabriel’s has … [Read more...]
