Became a tech billionaire by his twentieth birthday. Has been in a relationship with me for 3 years.
Has proposed 4 times. Been rejected 4 times.
Cuts grass when he’s not banging housewives. Good with his hands, his mouth, and his cock. Has been pursued relentlessly by me for almost 2 years, whether he knows it or not.
Go ahead. Judge me. You have no idea what my love entails.
If you think you’ve heard this story before, trust me – you haven’t.
An extravagant melodrama: fun, sexy, suspenseful, and exciting! An engrossing, entertaining story that left me wanting more, more, more from this author. Read it!
Hype! That four letter word that can make or break a book. Personally, hype has been known to ruin a read for me, more often than it has enhanced it, and Black Lies, came upon me with a lot of fanfare. So you can understand that I was nervous about trying this one, which is why I waited. I waited until I was ready, and then I took a chance on this twisted romance.
This review is going to be vague in terms of the plot, because I don’t want to give away a SINGLE clue as to what this story is about. What does the blurb say? If you think you’ve heard this story before, trust me – you haven’t.
Well, I haven’t read this story before, but I will begin this review with the disclaimer that I knew what it was about before I even read the first page. I didn’t read any spoilers, or other reviews, but with the way the book was marketed, I just had a feeling. Everyone’s vehement denials of my assumptions about this story led me to believe that the twist could only be one thing. And I was right. And I still loved it!
So why was I still so intrigued? Because even though I knew, I didn’t KNOW. You know? Until you know, then there’s still the possibility that it might be something else. This book was written in a way that sucked me in, and I was still able to enjoy how the story unfolded, because I CARED whether I was right or not. I just HAD to finish it to see how everything would unfold. Knowing the secret didn’t diminish the experience AT ALL. The plot and characters kept me enthralled, in fact, this was the first book in a while that has been able to keep my attention. Between work, school, blogging, social media, and a whole host of obligations, Black Lies was able to distract me from all of that, and I think that truly is the sign of a great book. After all, that’s why I read.
Kudos to Alessandra Torre for creating such a rich, sensational, juicy, hell of a book. One of my favorites of the year. Simply delicious!
P.S. Try to go into this blind and with an open mind.
