When Brent Mason looks at Kennedy Randolph, he doesn’t see the awkward, sweet girl who grew up next door. He sees a self-assured, stunning woman…who wants to crush the most intimate—and prized—parts of his anatomy beneath the heels of her Louboutins.
When Kennedy looks at Brent, all she sees is the selfish, Abercrombie & Fitch catalogue–worthy teenager who humiliated her in high school in order to join the popular crowd. A crowd that made those years a living hell for her.
But she’s not a lovesick social outcast anymore—she’s a Washington, DC, prosecutor with a long winning streak. Brent is the opposing attorney in her next case, and Kennedy thinks it’s time to put him through a little hell of his own.
But things aren’t exactly working out the way she planned. Brent has his sights set on Kennedy, and every fiery exchange only makes him want her more—and makes her wonder if he’s as passionate in the bedroom as he is in the courtroom. In the end, they may just find themselves in love…or in contempt of court.
Ohhhh, I had so much fun with this book! It was so refreshing. I can’t remember the last time I picked up a book that was just a total blast to read. Emma Chase really knows how to write a good, fun, hot piece of awesomeness!
Appealed was exactly what I have been craving. It brought it all – the laughs, the feelings, the heat, the tension. It packed a punch in the best way possible.
It was so much fun to read, right from the very beginning in that amazing male POV way that only Emma Chase can accomplish. I mean, she just nails it. I’ve joked in past reviews about how she must secretly be a dude because it’s just so spot on. Either she holds the key to the innermost workings of the male mind or just the key to how women think the male mind works. Whichever it is, it’s absolutely hysterical and I cannot get enough of it. Emma does male POV the way absolutely nobody else can and I think Brent just might be my favorite in this series.
I don’t know what it is about two opposing lawyers but that angry tension builds in the courtroom and it makes for explosive scenes behind closed doors. I love the build up! Everything about it was just delicious.
I actually wish this book would’ve been a bit longer. It wrapped up pretty quickly and I wanted just a bit more. Not to mention that way that Brent goes about solving a major problem for Kennedy is pretty cheesy and farfetched. But hey, it’s fiction. I can forgive it.
Overall, I loved this book. It was exactly the fun, light read that I needed and I definitely recommend picking this one up. Even with how fun and easy it was to read, it still brings some emotion, which I appreciate. It’s a good balance and everyone should enjoy it. Now go! Enjoy the sexy banter and arguments. Lord knows I did.
